Question regarding size, genetics, weight
I'm a sophomore in college. I've been 5'11-6'0, 145-150lbs since probably my junior year of high school, so basically the same size.
Most kids who are better than me at cross country are either taller than me and the same/less weight, or as tall/ shorter and weigh less.
I see hs freshmen running 16:20s. I'd love to be that fast but I'm probably carrying 40 lbs more than them. And I'm not as naturally talented. Distances above 800 have always been a relative struggle.
My question is whether I would benefit from losing 10-15lbs, or if it's genetic and I am meant to be bigger than other runners. Would it hurt me to be 10lbs less than my body seems to balance out at naturally?
