Rupp was at his limit during the Olympic Marathon and did fairly well for himself but Ward is clearly in another league as far as racing marathons goes.
Rupp looked spent when he crossed the line but you could tell that Ward had held back and still had gas in the tank...with that big smile and bounce in his step. In a rabbited race Ward would probably put 3-5 minutes into Rupp if they were both going all out.
