He ran the first mile in 5:30 so he could separate himself from the crowd, and then at mile 2.5 walked across the street to cut off 2+ miles of the course, but missing the 5k split.
That puts him at 10k in 40 minutes. (average ~20 minutes per 5k). For every 5k after that he splits at 28-30 minutes.

uh oh. not good. missing 5k split at brighton.
A bunch of other runners with about the same result have no 5K split: http://results.active.com/events/brighton-marathon-2016/men-s-overall?_=1466275089256&page=10
I will try to check the race pictures though.[/quote]
Confirmation: this was just a timing mat not working, he didn’t cut the course there.
There is a photo point at the 5K mark, at the Royal Pavilion.
This picture shows RY at that location: http://www.marathon-photos.com/scripts/photo.py?template=MPX2&event=Sports/CPUK/2016/Brighton%20Marathon&bib=258&photo=MARG0015
You can enjoy his running form in these videos: http://www.brightonmarathon.co.uk/marathon-photos
But still a nice find, that missing split. Might be worth to check his other races.
Amazing, it that for real? wrote:

Yes. Seb Coe was there. I have no idea how he managed to get that prize.
