Why I keep coming back
RE: Robert Young fakes run across America

New laz update as well:

"this was a hard day.

the temperatures were the lowest yet.

but the humidity was out of sight.

everyone cooked, most especially RY.

I know about the raging controversy over the early parts of the race.

as much pleasure as it seems to give everyone to rehash those,

I think that has been and is being adequately covered.

RY got off to a late start this morning,

and it really looked like the game was over.

the first mile and a half took him 55 minutes.

it looked like he was going to simply drop at any moment.

subsequent miles were little better.

a couple of times he sat down on the side of the road,

and it looked like he would never be able to get back up....

once, he just fell face down.

putting a lump and a cut on his forehead...

when his crew reached him, his face was covered with blood...

and he was asleep.

but, he did get back up... every time.

at times, his pace slowed to a mile an hour.

to be perfectly honest,

if he were an entrant in a race I directed,

I would have pulled the plug.

whatever the outcome,

and both the monitors and the participants know that many questions will be faced after this concludes,

it is a shame that no one may ever appreciate the sheer determination that it took to get 40 miles today.

if I might be allowed to say something positive about RY.

he will not quit.

regardless of that, team RY really has their backs against the wall now.

this close to the end, it is a catastrophe to miss your required daily mileage.

I am waiting to see what the new rdm will be.

it cannot be good.

he was having to kill himself to reach the old number.

and now he needs to come up with more.

this really looks like a death spiral.

now you can return to beating dead horses.

Dang .... Now I feel sorry for RY.

I think he still has room for redemption. Not sure what is best for his "career", but for the man, he should come clean and start fresh.

Good luck Robert.
