Been There Done That B4
RE: Arcadia kid fails to take down Austin Tamagno's Mt. Sac record. And blabs about how soft it is.
First the record is not soft...... think about it..... everyone who has broken the course record in the past has done it alone. Rocha runs 14:24 ties Mercado and Mussa (who both did it alone) Tamagno ran 14:36 the day before alone and in his interview he (the course record holder) said "i just didnt have it on Reservoir". if Rocha and Tamagno would have run together most likely you would not have seen 14:20 because Tamagno would have been 12 seconds behind him. On this course you have to have a good day and be on it to have a chance to run fast and to see a time like 14:20 both of those guys would have to have a good day and be in the same race. The hills on this course are more daunting then maybe even Rocha knows, attack one hill too soft or too hard and it starts to add up as you get to the next, if you are too fast or slow in the valley loop that becomes a problem. That is why the record is what it is and that is why Tamagno only broke it by a second. It is more than just running on this course you have to be very tactical. In Tamagnos interview he talks about the tactical aspects of his race at MTSAC...... and i know it was warmer when Tamagno ran, but he was not making any excuses so i wont either.
But thats just my opinion.........
