RE: Grant Fisher--MIchigan State meet
This post is true. I videotaped 3 sections of the race as it's not spectator friendly, especially if you want to see the finish.

The puddle around 1.5 miles is where I was at, hence it did exist.

The wind was exactly what this poster described. Grant was not touching Dathan's 14:10, no even in perfect conditions. But the wind definitely affected his performance today as he was out alone from just before 800m to the finish line.

The temps were also spot on. It was brutally cold and felt much colder indeed.

Tough day to run.

I ran in the D1 mens race, the same one that Fisher ran in (although much farther back).

The course conditions were infinitely better than last year. Last year it was incredibly muddy for the entire course. Especially by the time D1 guys ran (which is the last race of the day).

This year the ground was near perfect. There was one pretty big puddle around the 1.5 mile mark, and some really soft grass and a bit of mud around the 2.7 mile area, but the rest of it was really solid.

HOWEVER. The wind. The wind was practically coming at my face the entire race. No matter the direction, it seemed as the wind was coming straight at me. It made it an incredibly hard race to run. 20-25 mph winds the entire day.

There was a bit of wind last year, but it wasn't nearly as bad as today.

A lot of people on my team did PR, but only barely and because they were able to stay behind people that blocked some wind. I can't imagine how it was for Grant having to take the wind head on the entire time.

Overall. It was a very windy, cold day. Temperatures were around 34-36, but felt much colder.
