3.35 is very hard for a guy with 53 speed, considering another 53-guy named Bob Kennedy only managed 3.38 and 3.56 mile. But I don't think he trained specific for the mile when he ran those times.

Using the formulas in your guide:
400m: 53
800m: 53+4 = 1.54
1500m: 53+8 = 3.49
