RE: Did Lagat (39y3mts old) beat Rupp once again?
I can always believe Lagat will beat Rupp in a race shorter than 5000 and almost any 5000. Rupp is a 10000 meter specialist who is vey good, but not great at shorter distances.

What's surprising is that there are no other Americans and few internationals who a beat Lagat or Rupp. It would be great to see Torrence, Leer, Jäger, Bumbalough, Fernandez, Hiill, etc. take this on.

But let's be honest, the statement is thrown out as an insult to Rupp. Lagat is the runner he is, despite his age or what country is on his chest he is just that good, consistently one of the top runners at international championships, maybe with more medals than any distance runner? I'm not sure on that but it wouldn't surprise me.

Rupp isn't the only one having a tough time beating him, pretty much every other 3000 or 5000 meter runner in the world finds it difficult in a championship race.

Rupp came in fourth at the indoor WC. That's pretty awesome... It was not meant to be an insult for Rupp.

I really just can't believe that Lagt still owns Rupp...[/quote]
