She deserved to be DQ'd
Thank you for identifying yourself as a Nike troll.
People like you are the PROBLEM with this message board.
I don't have anything to do with anybody. I'm just some old runner who likes running. What I saw on the video were 3 runners running single file around a track. The third place girl tripped the second place girl as she was passing on the curve.
In my opinion, that should be a disqualification.
We all know contact happens when runners are packed up, but this girl had absolutely no reason to be close enough to trip a runner she was trying to pass.
The problem is you are talking about whether or not she should be disqualified. This is not what concerns most of us primarily about this entire incident.
The issue here is the blatant corporate strongarming from Nike.
They petioned for appeal. Denied. Appealed that. Denied. Appealed the appeal. Denied.
Then...a back door meeting and suddenly...a DQ!
The fact that a corporation has the power to alter the very outcome of a race, removing competitors to get what they want ought to be concerning to everyone. Even if you think DQ was warranted, realize the process by which the DQ result was achieved was unethical. Allowing this passively just opens the door for blatant abuse.
