Mr Man
RE: Anyone ever had a "Sports Hernia" aka: "Sportsman's hernia", "Gilmore's groin", or &
I've had lower abdominal pain for 2 months now. I went to see my doctor this morning. He is a pretty good running doctor; he has run for longer than I have been alive...

He told me I have tendonitis in the attachment point at the pubic bone. I think the condition is osteitis pubis. His recommendation was lower mileage and anti-inflammatories (I've been taking them already) and patience. He said he had the same thing himself and it took a year to go away.

Does anyone know how to distinguish between sports hernia and osteitis pubis? I would hate to spend a year running in pain and then find out that all I needed was a simple surgery and a month's rest...

For now I am going to trust my doctor since he has been very good in the past, but I was just wondering if anyone could add some insight...

My symptoms are pain in lower abdomen (it hurts on the pubic bone if I lay on my back and do a leg lift or crunch) and I also have hip flexor soreness and adductor soreness almost every day...
