Just had the surgery
RE: Anyone ever had a "Sports Hernia" aka: "Sportsman's hernia", "Gilmore's groin", or &
you don't seem to have it as bad as i did, i could not run at all for two years. it sounds like what your doctor did may have worsened the problem. if you have a sports hernia nothing will show up on any scan. MRIs, CTscans, ultra-sound, everything will be negative. meyers will require an MRI before seeing anyone. according to meyers most people are misdiagnosed with an inguinal hernia when there really is no "true" hernia, but just a weakened abdomin as a result of the growing micro tear in the rectus muscle. you can wait too long and the tear can get so severe that the surgery may not help. this injury could have occured during a run. a theory was that i did it during a pick-up game of basketball. the other theory is that i did it when doing a strider and stepped in a small "dip" on a football field. most often the injury occurs without the patient knowing. something very subtle can cause it. again, best of luck to anyone dealing with this. a tradition course of action by a doctor that doesn't understand this injury will not work.
