College xc meets should be for collegians and younger. This guy is head and shoulder above the rest. He denied another guy, many many years his junior, a win. He looks like the old guy at the bar when everyone else has moved on from the single bar scene.
I understand the race is open but the Race is subsidized by university funding. Race fees. Coaching salaries. Uniforms. Shoes. Travel. Food during travel. Hotels. Stuff paid for by colleges. A 30 year old pro runner should do tempos with his training partner instead of a collegiate race.
Its like saying a highschool senior is sitting in on a 7th grade class to brush up on his simple math.
No, it's not like that at all. The race director knows his name and could have denied his entry if he thought it was inappropriate. And he's paying more to get in than a college runner would most likely. Some of those guys have probably been running longer than he has. I see no problem with it.
