steve cram ran 142 with a 329 best, he and el-g finished races in similar fashion, similar splits. peter elliot ran 142.
and el-g was significantly stronger. - almost 4 seconds faster over the metric mile.

even if elg was slower than cram over 400 the strength factor would at least compensate.

el-g thought running the 8 was not good for him and that is the only reason we did not see tons of 143 results and a couple of 142's.

epo allows you to run at close (or closer) to your maximum speed. epo doesn't improve your basic speed.
A closing 1:47 in a 1,500 doesn't always equate to a 1:42 open 800.
If El G was a good 800 runner, he would have run ONE.....he ran ZERO 800's.....or 1,000 even.

Also, Lagat rarely raced 800 in his entire career.
