I don’t think being pro-elite is being anti-hobby jogger...
Just answering as if these are the two groups is the problem. Why not classify the two groups as "Current World Record Holders" and "Hobby Joggers"? Don't want to be called a hobby jogger?
People like me who train 75-100 miles per week to set personal records (even though we don't have elite talent), shouldn't be lumped in as hobby joggers. We are the ones who have the interest and funds to help build the sport and benefit the elites... so why try to alienate us? Build a focus on bringing in "serious" runners who are just trying to improve and in the process you will encourage them to help build the overall sport... attendance at events, watching coverage that attracts advertisers, buying merchandise, paying for monthly coaching services from the elites (this could be a very big source of revenue by the way...)
