Kimani kind of began the process of Kenyan taking to the roads when they could have been equally as successful on the track. To put in perpective how good Kimani was, in any road race, winning was just a matter of showing up.

I would bet that 50% of successful Kenyan male athletes die in their 40s for a variety of reasons, but the first one that comes to mind is the fact that a lot of them become unhealthy and heavy drinkers once the retire. Most of these guys don't run another step that does not involve a paycheck.
