Step 1: hire a smart, effective leader
Step 2: identify the stakeholders
Step 3: develop a group to identify and agree up some base goals
Step 4: use stakeholder leverage to get momentum-blockers to leave
Step 5: influence the repopulation of the power positions with like-minded, effective players
In a nutshell, a strategic CEO could rework that volunteer board! Vin has Nike standing behind him. That doesn't hurt his power.
