RE: Help me understand Dew Point, I just don't get it. . .
It's a measure of how saturated the air is with moisture. You can use it without knowing how it's calculated but if you're interested, it's the temperature at which the humidity in the air would condense (i.e. the temperature at which the relative humidity would be 100%).

A rough scale, in degrees F:

<50 : very dry
50-60 : nice
65 : getting humid
70 : humid
75 : very humid
80+ : oh look out

Some current dew point readings:
Edmonton 43
Las Vegas: 56
Boston 70
Houston 75
St Louis 83
