Doing great!
Hey All! Looks like this forum is back up and running...I had tried to post a few times with no avail.
Everything went GREAT in Munich. Dr. UM and her staff are top notch. My SH's ended up being much larger than she first thought. The right was 2.75cm x 2cm and the left was 3.0cm x 2cm. I also had to have a lipoma(soft fatty tissue) that was 8cm x 2cm removed on the left side that had to be removed. It had wrapped itself around the nerve. I had significant nerve damage so she did what she needed to do to fix that.
After the first surgery I walked around the clinic grounds several times. The evening of the 2nd surgery I walked from the clinic down to a restaurant in town, probably about 2 miles or so total. Day 2 post op I got on a train for a 6 hr trip from Munich to Prague. It was a czech train...the AC broke and the windows wouldnt go down. Not quite the experience I wanted just having had surgery....but I lived! Got to prague and walked about 3 miles. Then the next day I walked 6 miles around prague. That evening was the only time I would say I was in any pain. But I put the ice pack on it and soon felt much better. The next several days I walked 5-7 miles a day. I didn't fly back home to the states until day 9 post op so the flight was not an issue.
The only issue I have now at day 14 post op is an area of my skin near the incisions that is VERY sensitive to touch and can be a little painful if my jeans are too tight. Dr. UM said it is an irritated nerve that is still healing.
In the next few days I plan on doing a little jogging but going to take my time easing back into triathlon training.
All in all it was a very positive experience that I would recommend to anyone who is suffering from a SH.
I'll try my best to answer anyone's questions......
