Wait until it tears and then it's an inguinal hernia - then you'll be covered. I'm about to switch to BCBS - I checked w/ their worldwide insurance group and Dr. M is in the network. That doesn't mean my plan will treat it as network according to them though.
It is often an incompletely formed abdominal wall at birth. Dr. M also mentioned something to me about collagen disorder. I think some sports accelerate the problem or require the actions that cause more nerve contact and thus more pain and nerve damage. I think if you get it fixed right it the chances of it coming back are small.
