Assuming I recover nicely, I may be one of the blessed ones because it appears that my insurance will cover this. I called beforehand and gave them the surgery code, and they said they would cover 80% after I paid the deductible. I'm not sure they would have covered a surgery in Germany or not. I have a unique situation with my insurance because I travel for my job -- which allows me to usually see any qualified doctor I want.


I'm a USG employee and my insurance company (BCBS) has a list of overseas physicians they will cover. Dr. UM is one of them. Perhaps you company has something similar? Worth looking into man.

Ran four miles this morning and it felt great. Wow, I'm really out of shape though. It was a struggle both on the lungs and legs due to a year of inactivity. Its amazing what we take for granted.. Just to run pain free absolutely amazes me at this point..
