RE: Anyone ever had a "Sports Hernia" aka: "Sportsman's hernia", "Gilmore's groin", or &
This was a HUGE concern for me too. The last 4 months of my injury i was having tremendous tightness and it was eerily familiar. I was so worried that he wasn't seeing something. However, my MRI showed no tears on that side. Meyers told me it is very common because of compensatory problems without us even knowing. In fact he said it was similar to an old dresser drawer pulling one side out at a time. So each time you adjust your pelvis it strains muscles that are not used to it. It got to a point where i could sleep on 1 side for a few hours until the pain woke me up and then i would flip over and it would start over again.
Den is right. You need a diagnosis. Guessing and suspecting is just that and it will eat you up. I was in so much pain that i needed to know, but i was sure i had it on both sides.
On a different note I am on day 3 of no pain...just incision tightness...
The pool is the key because you can really work the adductors out. i am now doing scissors, crossovers in addtition to other excercises....I also started foam rolling my adductors yesterday and it felt great. I always hated to do this because it hurt me. Even my quads are loose now....This surgery has been a godsend. I have a long way to go but i am amazed how much stronger i am getting each day and how the more i do the more the body adapts and the inflammatory response lessens. Meyers is right...It is a use it or lose it proposition. I realize I am only day 19 and many do not start the PT until after week 4 but I feel strong enough to do it.
I wish continued success to the Munich guys. You are amazing. I realize it is a different procedure but i respect the fact you sought out your cure even though it is 6k miles away. It should be a lesson to anyone who has this. The only thing to fear is fear itself. We have seen people on here time and time again try to approach it conservatively......just to fail. Not any of their doing but this injury is a bitch and needs to be repaired.
One look at the German Doctors soccer patient was amazing. if i had that injury I would be getting my plane ticket asap. that was amazing.
