The pacing was as good as could be hoped for. I was at the finish line, and the announcer said they were through 5k in 13:31, which is dead on WB pace. Merga then pulled away from the pacemaker (Boaz Cheboiywo), who ended up 2nd, nearly a minute behind.

That course is NOT a world record quality course. It has a couple of decent climbs, and a fair number of turns. I was very surprised he got as close as he did. Glad I was there to see it. It must be the fastest 10k ever run on Canadian soil. And I wouldn't be surprised if the 5k split was faster than any legit road 5k ever run on Canadian soil.
