how does this sound as a base phase for a 800-mile guy who's strong point is his strength and endurance during the base phase:
Mon: 6mi + strides/drills
Tue: 8x800@10k, 30sec rec
Wed: 6mi + strides/drills
Fri: 5mi very easy
Sat: 10mi progression run
Sun: 12mi long run
* Morning runs of 3-4 miles Mon through Fri
the 400's and 200's on thursday would be run with ample rest and are just done to maintain familiarity with race pace ie muscle memory
since the athlete is more threshold/lt oriented the longer intervals are done a bit slower but have very little rest and the tempo's instead of being 4-5 miles become longer progression runs - of similar to what solinsky and teg do on their progression runs.
This looks good -- you are working a couple various trigger points, LT, etc -- make certain the 800s are cut downs and not repeats. Best of luck!
