RE: Sub 1:50 800m Training
There have to be some High School coaches on the thread...

I feel fairly comfortable sketching out a training schedule for a 20-27 year old to try and run 1:45, but have little experience sketching out a schedule for a 16 year old trying to break 2:00. My question is, do you simply dial back the volume and times? Or do you cut out more of the base? Even more difficult when you are dealing with a HS athlete who might be able to consistantly train only from March 1 through State meet at the end of May (not even 12 weeks). Would you even periodize?

Also, what does one do about all the racing? It seems like there is a meet every 4 days on some kids schedule. I know this thread is about sub 1:50 training, but a sub 1:50 guy might be trying to go sub 2 as a sophomore....

Any input is appreciated!
