RE: Anyone ever had a "Sports Hernia" aka: "Sportsman's hernia", "Gilmore's groin
This has been a really weird injury that I’ve been dealing with for just about a year now I think. It is so strange how the pain has seemingly moved around. As for the groin pain, I definitely get the most pain from shooting pains down my inner thigh towards my knees which are also both very inflamed/tender from tendonitis I assume. The back is really giving me problems lately- it even pops a bit sometimes when I sit down, stretch it a certain way, etc. and it’s strange you mention the hip because prior to the back giving me problems my left hip was problematic to the point I could not lift my left leg off the ground from a lying down position. When I do it now, with either leg I do get a pulling/pain on the left side in the left hip/groin area. I have never rested this or any other injuries I have sustained from tennis, I have just learned to deal with the pain and compensate in diff. ways.
The initial diagnosis came from a Sports Med. Dr. who had me lie on my back and try and left my legs while he pushed in certain areas around the abs- when I couldn’t do it, he told me I had a “second degree tear of the rectous abdomonous” I didn’t follow through with any phys. Therapy etc. and have continued to play daily. I wonder if I have made things worse or created other injuries as well. Any more insight as compared to what you went through would be appreciated. Thanks
