RE: Anyone ever had a "Sports Hernia" aka: "Sportsman's hernia", "Gilmore's groin", or &
Couple questions for anyone who may be able to help...

I've had three years of various groin, lower ab discomfort and chronic soreness. Been misdiagnosed, etc. Much the same story I've read on here from others (there's strength in numbers, I guess...

Fortunately, my orthopedic doctor has a relationship with Dr. Muschaweck and she came to his office this week (in NJ) to see some patients. She immediately diagnosed me w/ a sports hernia on both sides. Great to finally have a diagnosis. Not-so-great that she only operates in Germany (and insurance covers nothing). I'm weighing the decision of going there (and spending $18K I don't have - all inclusive; damn that sinking dollar) and talking to Meyer in Philadelphia, who it seems many of you have used... My questions:

(1) I'm unclear as to whether Dr. Meyer performs the same minimal repair technique that Dr. Muschaweck seems to have invented/perfected. Or does he use the mesh (which it doesn't seem that I want)?

(2) Does anyone have information re: the Dr. Meyer procedure and your ability to have insurance pay for some/all of the costs?

Thanks for any info you could provide...
