I remember talking to you many months ago ... that's too bad you're still in pain.
I think you've answered your own question - a tear will not heal without rest and/or surgical intervention. Too, because the groin region is non-vascular it doesn't get direct blood flow so healthy, healing blood cannot get to the affected area.
The worst that can happen is that you'll completely compromise your structure and balance of your muscles by continuing to play tennis with an injury like this. You'll probably wind up feeling pain in other places and could eventually get to a point where walking, sitting and even raking the leaves will be too much pain for you to bear.
Why continue to put yourself through the rigors of pain when you could get it fixed? Why are you not resting?? This seems so obvious, that your body is telling you to rest and yet you aren't...not sure I understand.
