I would caution you about racing flats that have the outside of the heel beveled. These shoes supposely(?) create a smoother transition from heel strike to toe off.
I have treated alot of ankle sprains and peroneal problems due to this construction in both flats and trainers.
At the risk of giving a bit of unsolicited advice to assist with your transition make sure you are supplementing with foot strengthening exercises and some barefoot walking and running. Happy Holidays!
