RE: Anyone ever had a "Sports Hernia" aka: "Sportsman's hernia", "Gilmore's groin
This forum has been a wealth of information on sports hernia. Thanks to everyone contributing.

Here is some background on me. I started feeling a slight pain in my left groin doing sit ups about three months ago. The pain gradually got worse to the point where I could no longer jog. The pain feels deep and hurts most when I sneeze or sprint.

I went to a orthopedic doctor a month ago and he made me drop my pants. When I mentioned sports hernia he gave me a funny look.

My current active sports are kickboxing, weight lifting and tennis. Now i've had my fair share of injuries. When they occur the pain is at its worst in the beginning and than it gets better from there. This injury has been the opposite. The pain started mild and has progressively gotten worse. Rest has not helped me recover either.

I am no longer active (this has been extremely tough) and I am trying to figure out what is the fastest road to recovery.

I live in D.C and am thinking of visiting Meyers.

First question I have is, do insurance companies typically pick up the bill? No one seems to know about this condition.
Secondly, does anyone has statistics on recovery rates from Meyers?
