From what I've heard from Dr. Meyers and my own guesses (I am by no means an expert of course) the scar tissue formed from the mesh insert will tighten up the pelvic floor and make it appear to feel better. Since the pelvic attachment isn't actually repaired, it will likely catch up with you in ? a couple of years? I've heard different things.... So yes, you do want to make sure you get the right surgery, definitely do your research and find out the pros and cons of each.

I'd recommend Dr. Meyers in philly. I'm almost 9 weeks post op and have strength back that I had lost pre-surgery (my left rectus was detached from my pelvic floor), having occasional aggravation/ soreness in the area, but all and all seem to be recovering alright. I am at 90% with my gymnastics, only leaving out my most difficult tricks/ combinations at this point....
