I can answer the first part of your question.
As HRE said Arthur believed that Aerobic conditioning was essential for all sport.
As for Coaching anyone that ran under 800m. To my knowledge he did not. He had too many Distance runners to worry about.
When you consider that Peter Snell was once the Owairaka club record holder over 200m (22 secs).. run on a grass track you can see that Arthur possibly could have Coached Sprinters if he had the time or inclination.
