If someone offered me a million bucks to run Victoria in 2:40, I'm quite certain I'd do 50-60MPW, because I know my limitations. I'd probably run like this:
S-long
M-0
T-short
W-short
T-short
F-short
S-0
The long would be 2hrs or more ish. Begin jogging, move to run, get to goal pacey pace.
I actually did a lot of weeks in 98-99 like this, once with a 24 miler in 2:38 feeling amazing. I was ready. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody. But I made the mistake of "giviner" on the shorts, rather than recovery running when I felt tired.
