Disagree with that. Look at Felix. She already has a tv career and she isn’t even done with track yet. Santa Richards, same thing. Felix works for American ninja warrior. She is intelligent, pretty, and already had a following. Syd could be in the same situation after a lengthy career. She could have that in 10-15 years.
Felix sprints and Richards sprinted. McLaughlin hurdles.
Can you name a popular women’s 400 hurdler?
Come on, there are a few well known ones.
Not many people inside track will have heard of Sydney at all. Especially outside the USA.
Here in the UK track fans will know Elidh Doyle as the first name that comes to mind. Maybe Hejnova also because she's been a force in the European champs for years.
But I'd say in the US Dalilah Muhammad or Shamier Little must be the most well known female 400 hurdlers. Little has that hair thing going on also, makes her memorable. I'm sure Sydney will change that in the USA, but probably won't become a big star in the UK.
Americans fail to understand the disinterest Brits take in American athletes. To us, there are many American sprinters and always has been. Before Bolt or Van Niekerk an American was always winning and Sydney is just another one. She's literally just replacing the 400m hurdlers you currently have who are already top in the world.
It will just be like Kenni Harrison if Sydney breaks the WR.
