Finnaly, after so many months and so many speculation and yours and Marius refuse to reveal what went wrong to that Marius fiasco in that Athens 5000m heat, the unveilled secret comes as revelation: a simple stomach problem.
With all respect: do you think that i´m an idiot?
Let me imagine. 5000m Athens heats. Marius start that heat with stomach problems. He had been that the days before. The run starts. He is well placed in the pack to be qualified. Close the 3000m the split time, will give him tyhe final qualify, what he works for since long ago.
But somewhere close to the 3000m - he forgets all stomach pains/problems and suddently Marius speeds up the pace into such an intense pace for 200m that in that short distance he passes to the middle of the pack to lead the run ahead of all the pack. That moment it seems that no one is able or interesting to follow Marius - but there most of the runners of that heat they have fast PB than Marius. Do you want that i belive that a runner that in the days before had been with stomach problems that passes fore his mind to he speed up the pace using in one of the poor run strategies that i´ve seen since 1972 with David Bedford?
Did he feels so good - that forgets the earlier stomach problems ? If, so why some 300m ahead, he slow down to a pace so slow that the same runners that he outquick in the last 300m they all passes Marius and marius seems to be in the last one positions and loose contact with the pack ?
The rest of the story is that Marius isn´t able to be qualified for the final. Lack of class, and a poor startegy - i say. Nothing that haven´t been done in previous peak competitions. Stomach problems - you said.
