Ever seen a real fistfight during/after a race?

we hated disco then and now

In college I ran in an indoor relay and the guy from another team apparently fouled our anchor (all of 5' 8" 140 lb). The other guy was 4" taller and 20-30 lb heavier. Our guy threw down his baton after crossing the line and went over and started shoving and hollering they guy, who shoved and yelled back. They had to be separated by teammates. No fouls or red flags.

In XC two teammates got into it while doing repeat miles. Elbowing each other on the path, so one shoved the other off the embankment and he crashed, getting some scrapes and bruises, and made a lot of noise. The coach did nothing and I almost quit the team that week but stayed on for the rest of the season. The team sort of took sides and I lost respect for the parties involved.

Ran in a lower level championship track race, at which the year before two athletes got into it in the middle of the race (both finished, neither DQd). The official lined us up and gave us a 2 minute lecture that there would be no tolerance this time and the slightest infraction would result in the inflicting parties being pulled from the race.
