There is a disconnect between the falseness that is accepted here on Lets Run and the New Yorker, and the actual fact that it was pretty much a hoax, which is known to be the case by most everyone where Kip lives. After the story broke there were runners and a number of other people who confirmed that Kip could not have possibly cheated.
