as a fan i like fields loaded to the max. and i think the home grown heroes should become heroes on merit, not because its a weak field.
I agree with the sentiment but look at NYRR. They "control" nearly all their fields (ie don't allow 30 Kenyans to run) and I haven't heard many complaints. I bet most people don't even realize it's being done. At the same time, they go out and get some of the very best athletes and put on very captivating races. So are you against what they are doing?
If there is a group more successful at promoting professional running in the US someone will have to tell me what it is.
