OP, you sorta undermined the point of your own message when you decided to start off your thread title with, "Tally ho old chaps!"
"Tally ho" is the cry that fox hunters - who are customarily on horseback - give when they get sight of their quarry. It's not a generic expression equivalent to "hey there" or "greetings" or "heads up."
Fox hunting has nothing whatsoever to do with the athletics and other kinds of sports that the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham feature. Fox hunting is not even a warm weather pastime or summer sport. The usual fox hunting season takes place over the fall and winter months.
Also, "old chaps" refers to males generally or elderly men specifically, so it's notsufficiently "inclusionary" for 2022 - tsk, tsk. Nor is "old chaps" very accurate for this situation. Quite a few minor boys, young men, girls and women are attending and following this year's Commonwealth Games.
IMHO, a more authentic-sounding and "inclusionary" way to start off the thread would have been to go with a British expression like "Oi mates!"
