Private sector jobs have had to ramp up pay because of the short supply of workers. This has been good for everyone. Inflation is high everywhere in the world. The IRS desperately needs more workers, and the $80 billion would help the little guy as much as anything, because you increase enforcement on bigger fish--and thus improve government services like the IRS itself. I have been unable to get my refund and there is no way to talk to anyone in the IRS. My experience was similar in trying to get our passports renewed. State Dep't is equally short-staffed and it was impossible to get an appointment for urgent service without going through a congressional representative. The problem with gov't services goes back to the Sequester in 2012. They desperately need more employees to be able to serve the everyday needs of people in this country, and the $80 billion for the IRS will help with that a great deal.
