Wise Old Man
This is correct. Until the moment she was arrested she thought she was a privileged person in Russia and above the law, certainly as it pertains to carrying a small amount of drugs for personal use. She was a VIP there and treated better than most everybody. She was way more privileged than the average Russian citizen. Her foolishness was in not realizing none of the privilege was real and that at any moment she could be hassled or incarcerated for no good reason, again, like any Russian. She did not heed the warning signs and alter her behavior to fit the change in geopolitics. Yes, that’s on her, but it’s somewhat understandable when probably for years nobody cared one bit in Russia if she had a hash pen and nobody would dare stop such a big time athlete, friend to the oligarchs. This is not a testament to Russian rule of law, but the opposite. It just shows there are no rules at all.
