Giannis, Jokic, KD, LeBron, Luka, Embiid, Kyrie (per game), Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler (when it counts), Anthony Davis, Booker, Paul, Curry, Gobert, Siakam. There's a good number of Americans in the list but something's happening here. It is entirely possible that the American development system in basketball is almost as bad as in soccer, but we haven't noticed because most other countries don't compete that hard in basketball.
Yes, the rest of the world competes hard at basketball. If you think Gobert and Siakam are on that list and not Americans Kris Middleton, Dame, CP3, Jrue Holliday, Tyler Hero, Bradley Beal, Donovan Mitchell and Kawhi Leonard then you know zilch about the greatest sport ever invented.
At least I know that Paul means CP3. I wouldn't put Middleton, Herro (two r's), Beal (no d), or Holiday (one l) on that list. Kawhi has got to be able to play basketball to be on the list. When's the last time he played basketball? Gobert and Siakam have something that Leonard had when he could play, exceptional defense. It's something that more Americans need to play. But if you think the rest of the world competes hard at basketball, you are sorely mistaken. Have you ever been out of the country? I've watched the growth of international basketball and it has been terrific. But soccer is by far the most popular sport in the world and basketball is very distant and hardly even played by many people. The quality has grown in urban areas in some countries but there are hardly any courts in rural areas of most countries and no basketball leagues in many countries.
