On one hand I don't envy someone trying to take some direction over the UK running scene - there's a TON of older folks that are resistent to any change.
Within my club I got a ton of crap for doing the groundwork for doing an order for Soar singlets so that marathoners wouldn't need to worry about their nipples being sanded away by the terrible old vests we have (this was an optional opt-in purchase of the exact same design). Also got shot down for suggesting we advertise specific paces for club runs rather than letting people race each other, because the Sunday club run obviously has to be at marathon pace as thats how they did it in the 80s.
On the other hand, some of the decisions taken by UKA are insane. Laura Muir's coach lost funding recently. Coaches were told athletes getting funding would get performance reviews by Sara Symington, and days later lost funding with no review. Sara Symington has immediately taken up a job with British Cycling (who are a federation build by dopers and cheats). Plenty of top athletes have been sounding off today on Twitter about this.
Clearly they'd gone drastically wrong and NO ONE had bought in to what they were doing. I don't think its down to specifics about direction or their beliefs, it seems that they treated everyone; coaches, athletes, clubs, with absolute contempt and felt that they were deserving of respect that they'd burnt by their actions.
