BOWERMAN TC 5K Team Time Trial - Tuesday, June 30 at Portland’s Jesuit HS

Runners are scared of the spotlight

Oh please. If they wanted to film it they could have found a way to film it, and if Jesuit would not allow filming, find another track. I live in a small town, and there are two tracks here, I'm sure there are plenty of other tracks BTC could have used that are within driving distance. Heck, you have high school kids live streaming time trials.

You cannot argue with BTC's running results, but you can argue with their lack of creativity when it comes to engaging with fans and promoting races. No one ever knows their racing schedule, and then they just show up at some small meet (BU Last Chance) and do an intra squad meet, or hold an unadvertised time trial. If competitive track is ever going to grow beyond a niche sport, its stars need to start interacting with fans on a legitimate basis including what their race schedule is and increasing access to viewing those races in real time and after competition streaming. There's a lot of money out there in the running market, and if athletes want more financial parity, groups like BTC, Brooks Beasts, HOKA NAZ Elite, BAA, NB Boston, Team Boss, Reebok Boston, Hansons, etc. need to start increasing their brand awareness.
