Speaking of governors, Newsom appears to be poster boy for social promotion. It's like nobody serious wants to be governor so they get puppets.

Emulating people who believe conspiracy theories isn't a route I'd recommend. Gates isn't an Inslee backer and isn't pulling Inslee's strings. Like a lot of Governors, Inslee is following the lead of scientists trained at the CDC. So is Trump (to a degree).
Snohomish is a growing community, but there still are a lot of folks who could have been cast in Deliverance, including Barber Bob.
The CDC botched the early testing with sloppy practices. Do they do anything right? This was a huge point of failure.

Here in la they closed all the mountain trails but kept the McDonald’s and weed stores wide open — you know... for public health.
They didn’t care. They don’t care. They won’t care. So whatever this strangely moralistic lockdown is about, it’s not about doing what’s best for the people: Folks, we’re on our own.
If a barber wants to open his shop, he has the right. If people want to go get their hair cut at his shop, they have the right. If you are too scared to leave the house, you have the right to stay home.

Hard to find someone who hasn't made a mistake. But the CDC is internationally respected for their virus response knowledge. The alums on the ground in Washington were able to influence a government/industry response which most likely was quite helpful in flattening the curve.

So as an MD, do I have a right to refuse to care for you if you contract the virus?
Oh, I see how it works. You are a like a child and I am the parent.

That must be the case since my neighbor has had several medical procedures put on hold since the local hospital wants to keep it ready for the influx of covid patients they have been waiting for going on five weeks now. What a great health care system we have!

It is as much to protect patients from acquiring infection in the hospital and to reduce spread as to prepare for an oncoming onslaught. Hospitals are acting against their own self interest (elective procedures and surgeries are the only thing that keep them making money, almost every other service is a financial loser) in order to protect the public.
There is a very simple solution. If you do not want to comply with a corona virus restriction, you can avoid any liability if you take part in a corona virus vaccine trial. That should not be an issue because most everyone flaunting restrictions thinks that the virus is not big deal. And if you are going to help spread the virus, you should also help find a vaccine.
Stupid is as stupid does.
When Rep. operatives stack gov't with incompetent political appointees with a financial incentive in the industry, and the president takes necessary funding and personnel from them, the results are predictable. "Brownie, you're doing a heckuva job."

Because most people die from hospitals and doctors, not diseases.
You cannot go around and spread your lethal crap just because you want a haircut.
