Solinsky was a faster 5k guy than Rupp, but I guess Rupp was overall better there too... 5th @ worlds 2015, and 3rd in Diamond League final 2014.
Still it is sad that Solinksy missed reaching his true potential. He was a real bad a$$ racer.
Yawn. Didn’t have what it takes. Bye Felicia

LRC Celebrates 10 year anniversary of Solinsky’s Slow 10k. In 2020 it will be six years since Galen Rupp ran AR 26:44.
I expect an article about it!
Why have an article about a staged "race". I remember watching that night and remember it as one long advert for one of Nike's shoes, Mo interviews and Galen/NOP(self congratulating)

Solinsky has 3 of the fastest 6 -5000m meter times. That's a big deal
Did not realize that. Pretty impressive. Also interesting that they also happened in the same year (2010).
Rupp was not as good at the 5k, but he has run 5 of the top 8 10000 times by an American, including #1 and #2. That alongside his olympic silver clearly shows he's a better 10k guy than Solinksy was a 5k guy.
Didn't Chris make homophobic prank calls to Rupp at one point?

Sure winning the fast heat of the Stanford Invite is a nice feather in your cap but Rupp’s record has lasted longer than Solinsky’s record. And Olympic Medals.

Hi Alberto, enjoying your suspension?
Rupp was doped to his eyeballs. Solinsky was clean. Makes Solinsky the better athlete. So what if he doesn’t have doped up times and bogus Olympic medals.

I assume he was clean, but never understood why he got a pass from doping allegations. He's a big boy that ran sub 13 multiple times and sub 27 once. Nothing suspicious about that?

Not only that, but he did this all in one year. I think he dropped his 5k pr by 15 seconds or so in 2010 and then sustained some otherworldly injury the next year. I know the site owners love Jerry Schumacher, but if Solinsky had any other coach then most people on here would be suggesting he was doped.

Nothing suspicious with Solinsky. OTOH, take Ali Saïdi-Sief who looks bigger & more muscular and ran some crazy times; 3:29/7:36/12:50 - now that's very suspicious for someone that size running that fast. And, btw, Ali Saïdi-Sief tested positive for norandrolone - so there you are.

Except Solinsky was a patient of Dr. Brown, that puts him into a similar category as Rupp.
That's such an NOP deflection tactic. The case against Rupp/NOP is about so, so much more than merely "seeing Dr. Brown." But their fans try to lump anyone who has seen Brown into the same bowl to obfuscate the ordeal.
Solinsky's 26:59 was infinitely more exciting than any race Rupp ever ran. Apologies to Rupp, but it's true.
This thread made it to the front page but when I made one saying lagat is way better than ryun they deleted it wow lmao.
I do think that the context behind solinksy's race makes it cooler historically but obviously galen's race is objectively better.
