Since the track season is cancelled a teammate proposed the idea of doing the 4x4x48 challenge that David Goggins did a while back. Basically you run 4 miles every 4 hours for 2 days. It sounds pretty brutal. I was all stoked to do it until I saw a thread the other day about how someone participating in a 24 hour relay ruined their season. I want to do well in cross country (the season better fucking happen) and have been training pretty hard. I've had IT band problems before and I don't want this to screw me over for the summer or the fall either because of injury or sleep deprivation. My friend wants to incorporate some "for charity" element into it which I think is pretty noble but I'm not sure if it's worth risking it.
So basically, I'm asking if it's worth it. Should I do this? How long will I have to take off afterwards if I do it? Could I theoretically jump back into running 50-60 mile weeks right away? Hopefully some of y'all have experience with this type of challenge or an ultra or something.
