The US is larger than Canada if you only measure land. China is also larger than the US under that method. We include water to keep us ranked ahead of China even though it puts us behind Canada.

If I was in Oregon and I had a friend in Florida, it is possible for us to only be separated by one hour.
The lowest point in the entire state on Colorado is higher in altitude than the highest point in Pennsylvania.
The Panama Canal is directly south of Pittsburgh, PA.
part of Oregon is in MT and part of Florida is in CT.
easy one: Alaska is the northernmost, westernmost AND easternmost state

That's pretty cool about Oregon carving out part of the state to be in the Mountain time zone. Didn't realize how small of an area of TX was in Mountain. Thought it would have been much more.
The geography of Central and South America came up on the new Who Wants to be a Millionaire game the other day. I think the question was something like, NYC is in the same time zone as which of these four cities: Rio, Lima, Reykjavik or Buenos Aires. I knew that Mexico extends southeastward from the US but didn't remember that it was so pronounced.
