That's a good attitude to have until you yourself die. Would you be having the same caviller attitude if that happened?

If this were the case how likely are Americans to accept this? Forget Americans I can’t see of 99% of the world population accepting these terms unless under some very real military force behind it (tanks rolling down street, forceful breaking up of crowds over ten, etc).
I’m actually more curious on how the people who are the bigger proponents of the current measures being put into place. Would you really want Trump to be the head of a police state for the next two years?
1. Your TDS is showing.
2. What if, as usually happens, this virus fades away in the summer and is never seen again?
You aren't an MD so stop putting that in your username.
I didn't expect to find such good reasoning here. Do you have an valid IQ score? Keep your brain active. People like you are badly needed :-)

Yes, I remember the flu... gone but not forgotten.
Biopharma will bail us out by next spring, probably. Our research engine is unparalleled.
It would be unlikely for civilians to stand up against the best military in the world. Even if they had RPG-7/-18 and/or a LAW ('Nam-era weapons) those won't do much against an up-gunned M1A3 or even an Abrams!
I listen to sports talk radio and a lot of ESPN guys want everyone to stay at home. It's no skin off their nose--they have their $$$ and needs met and will never have to ever face poverty, esp. if they are smart about saving.
My research says otherwise.

Many headlines and articles said this, but those headlines were pretty misleading. Here is the study that those headlines came from:
https://science.sciencemag.org/content/early/2020/04/14/science.abb5793?fbclid=IwAR3c1cuDoDlq4xblpPsX8GpJVQP3AHXxP4eLjJ6ld1j_uXv6U2H2wb3VwEwThe study also talks about the possibility that we could keep this in check enough to not have any future stay at home orders. All of it is on the assumption of no scientific advancement. And it also admits that the small amount we know about the virus makes it very difficult to predict. Although the research says we may not be totally normal until 2025, the idea of being locked down until 2022 was a worst case scenario. It is being reported as if it is the most likely outcome. The study doesn't say that at all. What it does say is that the smaller we can make the first wave, the more likely we are to contain future waves. So it basically says that our effectiveness in the very short term will do a lot to mold our long term. That's what I take from it anyway.
But I think all of the outlets talking about 2022 are very much misrepresenting the results of the study.
this thread is going to age like shitty wine
Propagandists.
Not researchers

We can simplify it by following the example of better-prepared nations like Germany.
Of course we’ll have to institute some form of healthcare, testing, tracking, PPE, and simple prevention. You know, teamwork. What a nightmare lol.
This.
Find. Isolate. Test. Trace.
It’s literally not rocket science. It’s epidemic 101...so may stupid governments...

Honest question:
Would you consider Ryan Shay to be genetically weak even though he was a much better runner than you (and most of us) could ever be?
