And yet Sweden has a lot higher death rate per 1 Million people than the US. 102 vs 79
But who is counting?
If you don’t keep your kids in Sweden’s virus-infected schools, they threaten to report you to Social Services (first step to removing them from parents).
I will be most interested in the after-studies that will follow in a year or two and compare the responses and outcomes of different countries. I will also be interested in seeing if there is truly a world-wide 'death bump' like what has been seen in other pandemics. Is Sweden really the only one not adjusting lifestyle? I suspect some random places in Africa, islanders, and maybe South America aren't either, but good data might be much harder to come by there than in Sweden.
Sweden:
10 million population
11,927 coronavirus cases
growth rate in cases 6% per day in the past week
1,203 deaths
114 new deaths yesterday, 170 new deaths today so far
schools open
gatherings up to 50 people
Taiwan
23 million population
395 coronavirus cases total
0 new cases yesterday
6 deaths total
schools open
gatherings up to 100 people indoors OK
shops, banks, office complexes open
pro baseball season and basketball season open (no spectators)
You are free to move there.
I bet some people would even throw a few bucks into a kickstarter for your expenses...
Editor's note: This post comes from someone in Sweden.
Not adjusting lifestyle? Basically everyone who has the possibility to work from home does it. If your kid has any cold symptoms whatsoever they must stay home from school (I have had both my kids home for 4 weeks due to very mild colds). Basically the entire resturant, hotel and travel buisness has gone under. The unemployment rate is sky rocketing, big industrial companies are eother shut down or working at very low capacity. Gatherings of over 50 people is banned (so no sport, concerts etc), everyone over the age of 70 are strongly encourage to stay at home...amongst other things

Taiwan has pretty much nailed it. Of course it helps to be an island, but so is the UK.
This thread is from 1 month ago.

1) An island
2) Slammed the door on mainland China travel before everyone else
They quarantined their entire society from the contagion which is CCP
I see people comparing Sweden to countries who are faring better. Why not compare them to countries who are worse off? All this nation to nation comparison is really getting tired.
I suppose Sweden has a reputation of being somewhat of a maverick in things. Their disgusting cowardice in WWII is legendary, however. I wouldn't go citing the Swedish model in any decisions of worldwide importance.
If they get incredibly lucky here, and are the 1 country out of hundreds that called it right on corona, it's more of a "even a broken clock is right twice a day" type of situation, than any kind of courageous decision-making.
Why are you lying? Those 114 deaths was for the whole easter holidays.
here are the only true and official numbers:

When it comes to overall deaths from covid19, it is either "pay now or pay later". The difference that Sweden is banking on is that by "paying now" they will still have an intact economy in 6 months time, unlike most of the countries currently on lockdown.
This is fun. Now the right wing nutjobs are praising Sweden as an example of a country that respects freedom. Miht want to take a look at the tax burden in Sweden and the cradle to grave social programs. And for religious right wing nutjobs, here is a fun fact: home schooling is against the law in Sweden.

Some of us are not "right-wing", but pragmatic centrists who go with what works. This point is lost on idealogues like yourself, who only care about your agenda, no matter the eventual cost in human life and misery. Sweden's approach on this is not tied or dependent on ideology or government programs. They have probably gotten it right on this, time will tell.

The U.K. is an island and their numbers have been awful.

There has been a travel ban in place since 3/14/20.
