This is total crap even in the rural clinic I work at we have essentially unlimited tests at this point. I can't begin to believe they don't in NY. This is the problem is he will be counted as covid death without any confirmation.

I can see not testing a 90 year old patient but I cannot understand not looking further into a death of a 34 year old. His body should have been tested or autopsied when they brought him back to WI. I would do so for my own child.
I love President Trump and I refuse to believe He would ever let something like this happen. I cannot believe that the Chinese killed this man.
He just died of the flu, he did not have Coronavirus. The false positive rate is close to 90%.

This is informed anecdote, I don't have a study to cite - but this is from my discussion w/ my cardiologist who I had to meet with due to a health concern that could have had impacts on my heart health.
He told me that it is intensity, not duration that has negative impacts on heart health. That would suggest "long hikes or jogs" might be better for your heart than 5K/10K training in the long run.
See this article for reference:
https://www.velonews.com/cycling-to-extremes-heart-health-and-endurance-sports/I think the takeaway is that exercising at all is probably better than nothing, but extremes in intensity or duration of intensity may be net negatives in the long run at least.
You think that exercising at all is better than nothing? Please tell me about your break through findings?
We need to stop with the one extreme or the other approach. Oh a sedentary lifestyle is unhealthy? Better go from couch to marathon training. Oh marathon training (especially with no background) can lead to long term health damage and injuries? Better go back to the couch.
FYI regarding the marathon and beyond. Whether or not you believe the legend of Pheidippides it should be noted the story says he dropped dead after his run.

If that guy is super fit, catch me at the next Olympics
Enough with the ridiculous fear mongering. When this is all said an done the death rate is going to be sub 1%, with 95% of deaths from those 80 and above.
The real issue is the spread.
Flu is 39 - 60 million infected a year. This is more contagious, so if its 150 million infected, your dismissal becomes statistics
I typically don't comment on such stupidity but I've had enough. For all of you that are spilling hate and think you know everything, you don't so stop. This man was my partner and best friend for 6 years. I will no longer get to speak to him daily and will never hug him again. Have some respect. Donny loved to run and yes he didn't do an ultra for a while but that didn't mean he didn't run. He did and loved doing it. None of you were in that hospital room and don't know what symptoms he had so stop assuming you know it all and instead try to honor and respect a fellow runner. There's enough sadness going on in the world right now, try to practice kindness.
Lucky for you it wasn't your child and because it isn't your child you don't have any facts. I know who's child this is and I speak to her daily. Please don't assume we haven't tried everything.
So far in the UK 0.77% of the 10,000 deaths came from people under 39 so this guy is extremely unlucky or had some immune system related issue he wasn't aware of.

Oh wow! "Giles Corey ."
How convincing! is that the best argument you have to contradict him?
Because he is right and you are a sheep.

Stop this stupid scaremongering! He wasn't tested. They don't know if he died because of the virus!
Critical thinking skills are at a premium these days....I think it's a pretty safe bet to deduce he died of COVID.
Why? He could have died from any number of things

That's the fake Giles Corey you are responding to

How many other 34 year old people died this week? I'm thinking thousands? Even assuming COVID was primarily responsible for it, a random outlier like this, does nothing to prove that the risk is great enough for the population, as a whole, to shut down a country for it.
Maybe, then again ...

Congratulations on taking the time to respond with two articles, neither of which address my premise that a 34 yr old guy, dying from COVID, does not prove that it's a great enough risk for the population as a whole (under 60 and generally healthy) to shut down all production in the country. There will be "young and healthy" people that die from this, but at no worse a rate than other, normally occurring, illnesses. On the other hand, this does appear more dangerous for specific subsets of our population...capiche?
Hoptitals are getting guaranteed payouts of up to 30,000 per Covid patient from Medicare , so it is in their best interest to make sure the Covid is listed as the cause of death, even if something else caused it.

The problem is that it's not fellow runners. I promise you half of these trolls don't run. The board has become an alt-right cesspool and the Brojos like it that way. I have not seen a single one of these posters on an actual running thread and I don't ever expect to.
I am very sorry for your loss. Every death is a tragedy.
